Driven by the desire to improve ROI and sales results, many businesses are adopting funnel-like tactics. A well-defined sales funnel takes a methodical approach to driving leads into conversions and customers. This helps reduce wasted marketing budget and allows for the focus of efforts on techniques that get results rather than just generating leads that may or may not lead to a sale.
To successfully implement a funnel, you must understand the sales cycle and what your prospects need to take action. Whether your business is B2B or B2C, the sales process usually follows a similar pattern: Awareness, Interest, Consideration, and Action. A sales funnel can help you define your target audience and create content to reach them at every stage.
Each stage of the funnel requires different metrics and goals. For example, in the top of the funnel (awareness) you may want to measure SEO impressions and ad views, while in the middle of the funnel, you may look at clicks and website visits.
In the interest or consideration phase, your prospects begin to evaluate various solutions to their problem. They may compare pricing, features and benefits, customer support, and other factors that impact their decision. During this stage, it is important to educate your prospects about your products and services. Providing useful content, demonstrating your expertise and offering free trials or consultations can encourage them to move forward in the process.
This is also a great opportunity to build trust and credibility through testimonials, social proof, and industry certifications.
At this point, your prospects are close to making a purchase and need reassurance that their decision is the right one. You can provide this by highlighting key benefits, showing product demos, and implementing effective customer service strategies. You should also be leveraging the power of email and social media to keep in touch with your prospects throughout their journey.
A well-optimized bottom of the funnel can be the difference between a sale and a lost opportunity. It can be challenging to identify and nurture qualified leads, but a well-defined funnel and targeted efforts can significantly shorten the length of time from initial contact to the conversion process.

Check out my recent post on sales funnels and what I think about them. Are they still worth it?
John Sammartino is an expert in sales and personal coaching. He has written academic papers on What Makes a Great Salesperson from a psychological perspective. He has achieved a number of awards for Top Sales for himself and the teams he has coached.
John met the love of his life; Janine, in 1988 and they married in 1994. John and Janine have three wonderful children and currently have three beautiful Grandchildren.
Although John had a pretty successful career as a Mid-Senior Level Sales Executive he never realized how much of his family life he missed out on until he was injured; herniating 17 out of 33 discs in his spine in 2013. Since then has suffered from permanent nerve damage which causes deliberating pain in his back, legs and arms along with many other issues that prevent him from working a normal 40 hour work week never mind the 50-60 hr weeks he was used to.
It was a rude awakening for John and Janine as they noticed that the nest egg you save along with 401k investments doesn't last long when you can no longer work. It wasn't long before they were accumulating a mass of debt and the bank was coming for their home. John decided that he had to reinvent himself and find a way to provide for his family somehow working from home only a few hours a week when he was up to the task.
Determined to adapt his sales and marketing knowledge from a brick and mortar perspective to the Digital, Internet, and Affiliate Marketing field in order to start a steady side hustle. Unfortunately, John and Janine found themselves getting ripped off by many of those so called “Guru’s”. They spent more then they should have on bogus programs promising the moon but always falling short on delivering. He spent countless hours researching and listening to everyone claiming to of “Cracked the Code” to generate wealth.
Being raised in a traditional household, it was ingrained in him that it is his responsibility to provide. John Saw the concern in his wife eyes, she knew he felt emasculated and depressed because he was unable to provide the way he used to. He was tired of seeing his family having to do without, eating one to many mac`n`cheese dinners because it was the cheapest meal.
This gave John the iron will not only to succeed in his quest to make money online but to accumulate generational wealth for his family and future family. Soon he found himself making some good side money but that was only the beginning…
